  3. Solice, Trepid, Critical Failure
    Sept 2
    Solice, Trepid, Critical Failure
This is an all ages event. Tickets are $5 advance or $8 at the door. All general admission seats will be first come first serve. Solice: When nothing else can heal your pain, music has an undeniable power to liberate you in a way that nothing else will. Music helps us set our soul free from life's oppression. When Solice was thinking of names, to represent their music, they unanimously agreed that Solace exemplified everything they felt their music would resonate. Trepid is an original, hard rock band from Shreveport, Louisiana who melds the styles of grunge, blues, heavy metal, alternative, and of course classic hard rock with the perfect smatterings of dark, macabre humor. Fronted by Rubee Stew, Trepid brings an in-your-face attitude with a powerful vocal presence, original to the group. Brian Young plays guitars along with long time friend, David Gorman as bassist. Chris Stewart brings a distinctive style and is a force to be reckoned with behind the drums. "In Henry We Trust", their newly released EP, features all new original music and reworkings of two of their classic hits, "Gotta Let It Go" and "P.O.S. Local 318." Trepid's live show is a high energy event that is not to be missed. Critical Failure is a hard rock / metal band from Bossier City, Louisiana that focuses on music with an edge but without abandoning discernible, strong melodies and dynamic vocals. As the name would suggest, the band is strongly influenced by numerous pop culture areas including comic books, video and role-playing games, sci-fi, pro wrestling, mixed martial arts, and more. Their songs range in theme from paying homage to their pop culture roots and influences, to using those same things to draw comparisons and contrasts to world events, to the struggles of pursuing and maintaining personal relationships. The band strives to mix different styles and moods within their music, making for an eclectic mix that doesn't normally find its way into the hard rock and metal scene.
  4. Bobaflex, Beitthemeans & Brand of Julez
    Sept 6
Bobaflex, Beitthemeans & Brand of Julez
Bobaflex: Born out of the ashes of record label bankruptcy, Bobaflex found themselves lost at sea when they started their own label BFX Records for the release their first independent album Chemical Valley in 2010. The album set the mold for Bobaflex’s fiercely independent way of life. Bobaflex’s tireless ethos has also carried into their live shows and touring schedule. Having played all lower 48 states over the last 7 years, they have played 100+ shows every year including a record setting 154 in 2016. This constant schedule has crafted the band into one of the tightest and real live Rock n' Roll bands in the country. Beitthemeans Just when you thought Southern rock was said and done, along comes Beitthemeans, swaggering out from a dark shed somewhere deep in the pines of Sylacauga, Alabama. The name is fitting for a power trio that is all about boot straps, whether it’s pulling them up or using them to beat their way out of a smoldering genre that could benefit from a whipping or two. With swelling riffs, bluesy throwbacks and a lead singer with a screech that must be part owl, BITM certainly cracks the whip on Southern rock.
  5. BrightStar Theaters' Musicians Meetup
    Aug 26
    BrightStar Theaters' Musicians Meetup
The Musicians Meet Up offers a platform for musicians to share their music projects with a wider musician community, ask for feedback, ideas or support, and get to know each other. The event is open to musicians, promotors, DJ's or anyone who has a passion for music, whether it is playing, singing, or writing. We have 8-10 slots at 30 minutes of play time. You can play a new track or song (like singing, rapping with beats, acoustic instruments ..). You can also mention if you are e.g. looking for a drummer, a producer etc. Please write an email to lisa@brightstartheaters.com by the 23rd of August 2017, including a link to your music and some brief info on what you'd llike to present. If you have conflicts of schedules because you have a later event to get to, please note that in the email. We don't want anyone to miss this! The event is open to all artists regardless of genre. At the end of the each performances, there will be time to meet and talk to each other over a drink, pizza and some music. So definitely come by even if you are not performing. No entrance fee, just come by and join us, even if it is just for an hour.
